Quality and Performance

Every sensor is manufactured to exacting quality standards to ensure reliability, durability and reproducible performance during operation.

Bare Fiber sensors

Our pO2 and multi-parameter pO2/combined sensors are supplied in a 'bare-fiber' (BF) format for invasive yet minimally traumatic tissue monitoring applications. A suitable gauge needle or catheter can be used to deliver the sensor to the tissue. Bare-fiber style sensors (without the temperature function) are fully MRI-compatible and are available at extended lengths for this type of application.

BF/O
pO2-only sensor
Format: Single fiber-optic.
Applications: Virtually any tissue type; in vitro O2 monitoring; minimally invasive, rapid response times, MRI compatible. Requires: OxyLite E or OxyLab pO2 E only.
Product code: BF/O/E
Tip diameter: ~280 μm
Cable length: 2 m
BF/OT
pO2/Temp sensor
Format: Single fiber-optic + thermocouple.
Applications: As BF/O where temperature fluctuations are expected; may not be MRI-compatible
Requires: OxyLite E or OxyLab pO2 E only.
Product code: BF/OT/E
Tip diameter: ~350 μm
Cable length: 2 m
SBF/O
Surface mounting oxygen-only
These ‘surface’ mounting sensors comprise a flat sensing body into which a standard BF type sensor have been integrated. The body of the sensor includes suture holes for easy attachment to tissue and organ surfaces, whilst the measurement occurs from the sensing tip protruding from the flat underside surface. Whilst the slight protrusion of the sensing tip means that the actual measurement remains direct and invasive, this unique sensor can be useful for measurements from shallow and peripheral tissue regions such as mesentery, kidney, liver and gut wall. The sampling area for this type of sensor is identical to that of comparable standard BF sensors.
Requires: OxyLite E or OxyLab pO2 E only.
Product code: SBF/O/E
Tip diameter: ~280 µm
Cable length: 2 m
NP/O
Needle-encased oxygen sensor
The unique construction of this 23G needle-type sensor enables measurements of tissue oxygenation to take place via ‘windows’ actually along the shaft of the needle – i.e. away from the site of maximal tissue trauma. The ability to measure oxygen in a less disturbed tissue microenvironment is of significant benefit to the researcher. Actual oxygen detection occurs via 3 laterally arranged, precision cut windows approximately 3 mm distal from the needle tip. The resulting tissue sampling area/volume is approximately 3 times greater than that of our standard bare-fiber sensors (BF/O).
(All measurements in mm).
Requires: OxyLite E or OxyLab pO2 E only.
Product code: NP/O/E
Tip diameter: ~630 µm / 23G
Cable length: 2 m
